Hey guys! A few months ago whilst I was living in L.A I reviewed this amazing skincare brand called Maison Jacynthe which is based in Canada. Their serum and toner absolutely revitalised my skin and made it so amazing – you can read about it here. The brand recently launched a make-up range which is such a huge move for the brand and I was offered some products to try out for them. Here are my honest thoughts!
I had such high expectations with Maison Jacynthe’s make-up range because their skincare was so good. The first thing I really noticed was the beautiful wood packaging of the lipstick and concealer. I’ve never seen packaging with these wooden touches before and thought it looked really nice. The packaging is also very sturdy so if you’re travelling about nothing is going to get damaged inside those tubes! The consistency of the lipstick is really creamy which is lovely. It’s not a matte finish but it isn’t greasy either. I was very impressed with the pigmentation as the swatch on my wrist was just from one swipe and I wasn’t pressing too hard. The shade is in 02 Bordeaux which is a lovely burnt red colour. The lippie is not as strong as a vivid classic red so can be worn outside of occasions where you don’t fancy a bold red.
Colour correcting is really popular at the moment so I decided to go for a green concealer which hides redness to see what the fuss is all about. I was really surprised at how amazing colour correcting is. I just popped on the green concealer over and redness and it was gone immediately! I didn’t even have to apply a skin coloured concealer on top as it was very easy to blend. The concealer is creamy too but not too thick so doesn’t weigh heavy on the skin. I don’t think I’ll be going crazy with colour correcting and having a whole host of colours on my skin but I’m definitely going to be using this green concealer.
I’ve been after a decent bronzer for a while because I was left so disappointed by the Bourjois Chocolate one. The Maison Jacynthe bronzer is so well pigmented and suits my skin tone well. If you have a similar skin tone to me – white but with a hint of a tan, then i think this will work well as a contour shade for you. I use it on my cheekbones, jawline and corners of my forehead to give me some definition and colour. When you use the brush on the bronzer be careful because the powder comes off super easy so you don’t have to press very hard. it’s also a really good size and I can see it sticking around for a while until I hit pan!
What do you guys think about the colours of these products and the packaging? Do you enjoy heading about make-up and skincare brands that aren’t mainstream?
