Hey everyone! A couple of weekends ago my University hosted its annual Colours Ball at the Thistle near Heathrow. It’s the one night a year where all of the members of RHUL’s sports teams get together, all dressed up for once (unlike at the SU!) and we celebrate the people who’ve contributed tremendous amounts to our teams.
Opportunities to get dressed up at Royal Holloway are few and far inbetween. Our SU features denim shorts and plain white shirts that some randomer will probably scribble his name in on Sharpie. So, when an event like Colour’s Ball comes up it’s so great to see everyone in beautiful clothes. Colours Ball was a lot of fun as I knew it would be! Some of my friends from Cheer received awards for their contributions to the sport which was really nice to see. They deserve their awards 100%. I had an absolutely fab evening and it was a great end to my sporting career at Royal Holloway.
Since I’m graduating this year it was my last Colours Ball and I really wanted to wear a long dress. I wear dresses all the time but long ones not so much. This dress is the ASOS Slinky Cowl Dress. It was £48 plus I added my 10% off student discount so the price was really reasonable. I love the pink-nude champagne colour. It goes with everything and it isn’t a colour that ever goes out of style. The neckline of the dress reminds me of old Hollywood glamour, the slinky neck looked so pretty. One side of the dress also has a bit of a cut out underneath the arm which really upped my side-boob game.
I decided against wearing heels because I knew I would regret wearing them if I did. When I attended a Polo event I wore heels and was practically crying by the end of the night. They were a new pair and so uncomfy! To avoid that happening again I wore these pale pink ballet flats with the little pompom on the front. The colour of the shoes matched the dress really well even if they weren’t as glamorous as a pair of heels. I was dancing on my feel til past three AM so I feel like I made a wise choice.
I didn’t want to overdo the outfit by piling on a bunch of jewellery so I wore these Jewel Ear Climbers from ASOS. They are a pale blue silver colour and only cost £3 with a voucher I had from being an ASOS premier member.
My lovely friend Yasmin and I took these blog photos and some others because our blogs were put on hold whilst we were doing our dissertations. There was no more fitting place to take these photos than in front of Founder’s Building at University. We were talking about just how beautiful campus is which I think is only really sinking in because we are not far from graduation! I definitely encourage you guys to appreciate your time at university and your surroundings whilst you can. I already miss RHUL and I haven’t even left yet – haha!
What do you guys think of the dress? Do you guys do sport at University?
