My summer ball that signalled the end of my final year of University happened last Friday. It was such a surreal and amazing night with my friends and I had a fantastic time. My final year has had its ups and downs; from personal struggles, to essay difficulty and applying for Masters. Coupled with winning Grand Champions with my Cheer team, securing a place on my dream MA, reuniting with my best friends and making even more close bonds. This year has been truly incredible and I cannot thank everyone enough for participating in it.
It’s always quite sad to close a chapter on your life. Especially one that you can never come close to re-creating. But with that closure always comes something equally exciting, equally refreshing, that moulds you into the person you’re trying to become. Just like my last day of High School, I will undoubtedly never see some of the people I enjoyed last Friday night with again. Does it mean we aren’t friends? No. Does it mean I’ll forget you? No. Does it mean it’ll be weird if you ask me to meet up over coffee in two years? Fuck no. Life has a way of taking and bringing people in and out of our lives when we need them and when they need us. Some people can’t go down the path’s you’re going down and that’s ok. Some people who you thought were disposable, may become more significant to you than ever. Life’s weird like that.
My time at Royal Holloway has flew. But when I look back at my First Year it seems centuries ago. But that’s a good thing. It went fast enough for me to know I had fun but I have enough memories that I know my time at Royal Holloway was bursting with adventure, tears and mostly, laughter. And VK’s, duh.
I want to thank everyone who made my time at University what is was. My first year flat you were a breath of fresh air, my second year house for all I learned under its roof, my study abroad for changing me drastically, my final year for showing me the true value of hard work and my friendships. I’ll cherish Royal Holloway forever. Farewell.
