Spending some quality family time in Crete

Hey everyone! So this post breaks an almost-three-week-hiatus from blogging. Insanity. I’ve been super busy the past ten days with moving down to London to begin my MA. But the week before that I enjoyed some much needed offline-time in Crete with my family. I had been the Greece before but never to Crete and I was totally ignorant of any little facts about it. Including that it’s the biggest Greek island, whoops.

We stayed about a half an hour drive away from the town of Chania. Chania is this gorgeous beach side town, big enough for exploring but small enough that it isn’t overwhelming. I definitely want to spend some more time in Chania because there were so many cute family owned restaurants and apartments. Plus the shopping there for jewellery was amazing. The Pardalakis Apartments we stayed in were pretty basic because we booked so late in August but Pardalakis was great for a cheap week away. The food there was amazing and really affordable plus the pool area had more than enough space. The only downside was that it was full of British people – haha. Sometimes you just want to escape them when you’re in a foreign country but it seemed like everyone knew and loved where we were staying and were regular guests there.

Crete was a great little cheap week away. The food in Greece is always amazing, fresh and so healthy. I know I’ll be back there someday to explore Chania a little more. I know that Crete exists if I’m strapped for cash but I am in desperate need of some sun. What are your favourite destinations for an affordable week away? Let me know in the comments and I’ll check it out.
