Celebrity lines with brands come and go. But there’s always something special about a line that ties in perfectly with the celeb’s personality or expertise. When asked to try a piece from Doutzen Kroe’s line with Hunkemoller I was obviously interested. Hunkemoller isn’t a brand I was familiar with. The Netherlands based brand specialises in lingerie and nightwear. It seems like their version of Ann Summers, but without the rabbits. Doutzen, both Dutch and a lingerie expert from her modelling with Victoria’s Secret makes the perfect face to do a line with the brand.
I was sent Doutzen’s Allover Lace Kimono to try and I think it’s pretty cute. The material is a see through black lace, so it’s not something I can wear in my shared kitchen. But once I move into my apartment I think I’ll be able to get a lot more wear out of it! It’s definitely more sexy than functional in that aspect. But I felt so good taking these photos (bikini photos during my travels I’m an expert at, but lingerie I find a little trickier). I felt really confident wearing this and my boyfriend loves it.
I’ve only tried the one kimono from the range, so I can’t say much about Hunkemoller’s sizing. Kimono’s tend to be oversized and more of a ‘one fits all’ type of deal (although this one does come in 3 different sizes). I can’t comment on how well the bra’s or knickers fit but the kimono fit well, the proportions were good. It wasn’t too short for me so at 5″10 it will definitely suit taller women. I would have loved to have tried more items to give you guys a better view of the quality of the range as a whole!
At £40 the kimono is a similar price point to Victoria’s Secret (VS’s range from £48). I have one of their satin kimono’s in a nude and black lace colour and it feels very very soft. Whereas, the one from Hunkemoller isn’t soft since it’s lace all over. So whether you go for VS or Hunkemoller depends on what you’re looking for I suppose! I will say that the VS kimono’s are generally much more expensive (at around £80-90), it just so happens the one I wanted was relatively affordable!
Have you guys had any experience from the Hunkemoller brand? I think that their stuff on their website looks lovely and it could potentially be a real contender for Ann Summers and Victoria’s Secret in the UK. I definitely wish that we had more lingerie specialist stores in the UK. VS can be overpriced and Ann Summers a bit tacky at times. What do you guys think of the lingerie photos?
