Huge news! I’ve launched a magazine!
I’ve been working a lot to create a magazine for a project for my MA in Fashion Journalism at LCF. I had so much fun making it that I’ve decided to continue the project on. I decided to dedicate the magazine to minimalist fashion and sustainable fashion choices. Over the past few years I’ve become increasingly aware that I don’t wear most of the clothes in my wardrobe, because they’re fast fashion and are therefore, terrible quality. I always ended up selling 90% of my wardrobe every summer because I either didn’t wear what I bought or because it was too ‘on-trend’ and therefore went out of style quickly or because it wasn’t good quality.
For these reasons I’ve decided to dedicate the magazine to avoiding buying too much crap. To encourage quality purchases, maybe even luxury ones but ones that will last longer. I also wanted to talk about other things in fashion that interest me. Such as, is fashion racist? can fashion ever be sustainable? should we be wearing real fur instead of faux, since faux is so terrible for the environment?
I may be silly, launching a print magazine in this economy. But I’m hoping because it’s niche, because it’s a young person project (all of the articles in the first edition were written by students) that it will sell at least a little bit. But I am not (for now) expecting Vogue USA levels of circulation.
I’m so excited to be continuing on this passion project of mine. Writing for a magazine is a dream, but having one of my own is unreal.
If you would like to contribute to the printed Issue #2 of the magazine, it could be an article, photo, short story, poem, illustration, then please email me! You don’t need to have a pitch ready, just drop me a line at email@example.com
I would LOVE it if you bought a copy of the magazine (I won’t be making profit off it, it’s just to cover printing) or even gave the magazine a follow on twitter or instagram.
Thank you SO much for reading! I can’t wait for Issue 2 & don’t forget to get involved by emailing above!
