So last week I did a post on how you can keep fit without a gym membership. There are certainly ways of keeping yourself motivated and fit without ever having to step foot in a gym or studio room. But self-motivational fitness isn’t for everyone. It isn’t even for me. I signed up to a gym that’s literally across the road from where I live this morning, because I felt that I’d hit a little bit of a roadblock in terms of my motivation and my fitness level. I wasn’t exercising as much as I wanted to and as much as I first did when I first started exercising alone – without classes or a gym membership.
Ironically a few days after I came to the realisation that I needed to sign up to something, whether that be a new hobby or a new gym membership an email popped up in my inbox that seemed almost too good to be true. Allow me to introduce to you, Esquared. An app that lets you know where you can book in gym floor sessions or fitness classes on different dates, different locations etc without you having to sign up for a membership or DD. What a blessing.
The app is really simple to use and if you’re travelling or moving around for business I can see this definitely being your new best friend. No one wants to have to miss out on fitness when you’re in a different city for a meeting. The app makes it easy for you to find classes that are available to you without a membership or joining fee etc. It’s no strings attached. Here’s how it works:
So the app opens up to a big map of London. It’s fairly self-explanatory but you can see different class and gym floor options by clicking on the pricing pins. It’s useful if you’re on a budget and if you’re looking for something very specific. Through the ‘All Venues’ filter you can select which type of class you’d like to join in on.
I was after something a little different. There was this urge to try something new with Esquared, rather than just paying to use a gym floor. I opted for Aerial Yoga just 25ish mins journey from my house, door to door. I didn’t have any issues booking in. So, you don’t need to worry about your place not being registered with the place where the class is held. It’s all accounted for and sorted for you so you can walk in and join in the session.
My Aerial Yoga class was a bit of an experience! I’ve never been great at gymnastics and mainly love Yoga because of relaxing it is. Rather than for what it does to the muscles. But Aerial Yoga was a lot of fun and it was also relaxing. I have my next session tomorrow and I’m really looking forward to it.
At first I was a bit scared of the hammock not being able to support my weight. I also had flashes of images of the ceiling caving in! But then I realised that that’s a bit ridiculous and began to ease into it and enjoy it. The teacher was incredibly helpful, walking all the steps through at a slow pace but also adding things in that pushed my a bit out of my comfort zone. She made it look so easy! But flipping out of a hammock and onto the ground gracefully when you’re up near the ceiling is a lot harder than it initially looks. I’m really happy with how Esquared works. There was no glitches, nothing was confusing and the interface is really user-friendly so it’s definitely an app that I’ll continue using!
You can download ESquared here from the Apple Store, or here from the Google Play store. You can use code ABBIEA15 to get 15% off the App too! Thank you to Esquared for this great collaboration and opportunity.
