A few weeks ago Jay surprised me with a trip to Sketch, this gorgeous Michelin star restaurant in London that we had been to for breakfast before. We had dinner and it was then that he told me we were heading to Paris in less than 8 hours time.
I ran home and packed. He packed. Then the next morning we were off to the Gare Du Nord on the Eurostar.
Long story short, he proposed. In one of my favourite gardens in Paris, that just so happens to be one of the most quiet and overlooked spots in all of the city.
Looking back there were a fair few hints at what was coming, but nothing definite. I knew we’d get engaged in Paris but I wasn’t certain that it would be that trip. It wasn’t until Jay mentioned we should be at the specific garden at 10.30am, which is very unlike his easy going nature, that I began to suspect that he had something special planned. I told myself “If it doesn’t happen then, then it’s not happening that trip” and not to be disappointed.
But it did happen. And Jay had even booked a photographer, Marcus, to capture the moment. I actually strolled past unbeknown that he was there to capture our proposal. I still can’t quite believe we’re engaged and sometimes I do look down at the ring on my finger and think WOW, it really is gorgeous and I don’t think that feeling will ever quite go away.
After our small shoot with Marcus we headed out for lunch at this gorgeous Vegan restaurant nearby. I’d been very good at adhering to my new year’s resolution of sobriety. However, I broke it with a fair few Kir Royal’s to celebrate.
I hope you love the photos. Now, if anyone has any wedding planning tips or favourite bloggers to read for that, let me know! I’d also love to hear your proposal stories!
