Pink Banana Leaves Poster
One of the things I love about living in my own space is always having the option of re-decorating, adding new touches and mixing up the layout whenever I want (and when Jay is around to lift the stuff that I can’t lift).
Since moving in in January I’ve learnt a lot about the kind of style I like to look at with regards to interior design and the kind of design that’s comfortable and homely to live in. Our apartment is very modern, it’s white, sleek but has a lot of natural light which we owe to a big balcony space (a rarity!). But when it came to renewing in June me and Jay knew that some things were missing…

When we filled out empty spaces with tall plants, small cactuses and some succulent bowls the whole place just seemed so much more inviting. Our apartment had something alive in it that wasn’t just our dog Bear. Plus, I had something else to take care of and I’m glad to say my plant babies are thriving.
In addition to adding actual plants, I also added a few tropical touches of Los Angeles with the Coast to Coast range from Desenio. I still have my previous prints hanging up in my living room and bedroom. But they’re all black and white and give the apartment a very fashion and sleek vibe. They’re cool in tone so I needed a change. I wanted something warmer and summery to reflect the warmer weather and to give me little reminders of travelling and hotter places when London decides it’s going to get freezing cold again.
I’m particularly fond of the Santa Monica Route 66 and Venice Beach sign poster. I used to hang out with my friends Val and Taylor a lot in those areas. Seeing those signs were very iconic at first, but then soon became to be just daily life in Los Angeles. I definitely took the beaches, hot feather and roads full of palm trees for granted on certain occasions. I’m looking forward to heading to L.A in January with Jay and I can’t wait to introduce him to all the places I love. The prints are small reminders of somewhere that used to be my home and that I’m always excited to visit again.

I love how the pink and blues in the prints contrast with the white border and black frames from Desenio. Not only do they look great. They also add that needed warmth to the room that my apartment was missing. I’d like to collect some more, maybe some blues for the bathroom (space permitting). Or some very vivid greens to add a different colour and vibe to a different room. But that may not be possible until me and Jay pack up and move somewhere else.
I’m looking forward to adding more prints to my space, playing around with how different aesthetics feel with different seasons. And when the time comes to move somewhere bigger, doing different styles in different rooms.
How do you like to style your prints? Do you have any from Desenio that I should take a look at?
