Ah! This year has been manic, but I’m very excited about all the current developments going on (creatively speaking). Some of you who follow me on Twitter may know that last year I began my Masters in Fashion Journalism at London College of Fashion. it’s a great school, my tutor is amazing and I’ve learned a lot.
Throughout my year at LCF I’ve developed a sustainability focused fashion magazine, The Bare Minimum Magazine and have been lucky enough to work with countless amazing students and young creatives — photographers, designers, illustrators, journalists – you name it.
Issue 1 was an assignment for University. I documented making the magazine on instagram and loads of talented students reached out to me to see if I was going to produce a 2nd Issue. So I did. And now we’re finishing up issue #3 and I’m already brainstorming ideas for Issue #4!
Our collaborators have worked together on shoots, articles, layouts and loads more to make this magazine happen and I absolutely love creating it. We’re just finishing up the 3rd Issue which has exceeded 100 pages. Fu*k ME, that mean s a lot of proofing next week!. We’ve managed to branch our from fashion to include beauty, essays and fashion sections dedicated to exploring all aspects of sustainability in the industry.
Our magazine isn’t just for women either. I’m really excited about a feature going into Issue 3 that features two of the UK’s Top Depop sellers. They chat about their style and why they love the up-cycling of clothing. Our issue #2 also featured a fair few male models. We took some edgy women’s clothing and styled it differently for the male models which was fun. It helped that the clothes were a little wacky too.
To celebrate the launch of Issue 3 I’ll also be hosting a launch party with the people who have collaborated on the magazine. If any of my blogging friends would like to come just drop me a comment (Central London location).
Other topics in the magazine include:
- Which is more sustainable: digital or print?
- An interview with 3 amazing sustainable bloggers
- Vegan food recipe’s
- Van Life – a look inside the minmalist living of Van Lifer’s
The print magazine’s will be shipped out on December 3rd! All the funds from Indiegogo go into printing as many copies of the magazine as humanly possible. Any surplus will go towards equipment, and studio costs.
If you can’t donate (no worries, I understand financial struggle!) then giving us a like or share on Instagram/Facebook @bareminimummag would be absolutely amazing. If you’d like to get involved in the magazine then we are always looking for new people! Whether you’re a photographer, graphic designer or fancy your hand at writing an article for print send along an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Back to blogging soon, I hope you’re all well!
