I hope you’re all well and enjoying the move into Spring.
Back in January, which feels way too long ago, I joined a Hot Yoga studio near my new apartment in South Manchester. I’ve been absolutely loving the sessions and a new found passion for Yoga.
I’ve always participated in Yoga at whatever gym I’ve been a member of for the past 5/6 years of my life. But I’ve never subscribed to a full membership at a Yoga studio. I’ve always gone in and out of the gym, going everyday for hours on end for a few months (inspired a lot by Whitney Simmons and Grace Fit UK) and then not going at all for another 6 months. I’ve never been excited about going to the gym, but also haven’t hated doing gym work whilst I’m there. But I always knew I was never going to be a gym bunny no matter how hard I tried.
I’m glad to say that I seem to have found a happy medium. A Yoga studio. Who’d have thought? I’ve been participating in a range of different classes from Bikram, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Pilates and Barre. And I’ve found my groove with which ones I prefer (Vinayasa) and which classes I do to punish myself (Bikram and Pilates – ouch).

I began the 30-day challenge at my studio (Hot Lotus, in Lower Bredbury) on the 2nd of March and completed by 32nd class on the 1st April. Aka, smashed it mate.
I haven’t noticed a huge difference in the way my body looks. But there are definitely some changes in how much tighter and leaner certain areas look. But bear in mind it’s only been 1 month, so I’m hoping in another 2 there will be some clear differences both in how my body looks and my confidence with living in it.
One thing I am over the moon about is how much my flexibility has improved. I’m so pleased that I can do 99% of the postures in class. I mean.. TOE STAND… no problem. I’m so keen to continue working on my practise, developing, deepening and learning. I hope to one day do a bit of teacher training.
But, it’s early days yet.
60-Day challenge update coming end of April!
Looking at these photos I think the areas that have had the most change are definitely the lovehandle area and my stomach has lost its small winter pouch. I’m looking forward to continuing the challenge for the next 30 days and seeing where that takes me!
